Description

AARMS is an institute based in Atlantic Canada serving a large and vigorous community of over 190Canadian mathematical sciences researchers (aarms.math.ca). The institutes programs provideunique and varied support to activity in the region that is not available from other bodies. Ourmission is to strengthen research and education in the mathematical sciences, with special focus onAtlantic Canada. The institute fosters regional, national, and international scientific collaborations;provides outstanding educational opportunities; and supports initiatives that raise interest andcompetence in mathematics among the public in general, and students in particular. AARMS isfunded by the Governments of Canada, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, as well as its eleven memberuniversities.Major AARMS programs include our annual Summer School to train the next generation of Canadasmathematical sciences leaders; Industrial Problem Solving Workshops to leverage expertiseresiding in academia to drive Atlantic Canadian economic growth; Conference and Workshopsupport to showcase the regions first-rate scientific activity to a national and international audience;a Postdoctoral Fellowship program that attracts the worlds best researchers to Atlantic Canada; andmany Outreach activities aimed at bolstering the scientific literacy of all Atlantic Canadians. Themathematical sciences are central to any advanced research ecosystem and economy, and AARMSis an essential element in securing the regions future prosperity.
