Description
Organizations with a multilingual online presence face challenges associated to streamlining the translationprocess, and complying with W3C's accessibility initiatives. Existing content management systems (CMS) arenot designed for creating multilingual websites. Often, the only solution is to build a separate website for everylanguage. The problem with this is that it can double or triple the effort required to maintain a website.Proximify's GLOT CMS integrates features for translation workflow, and accessibility semantics. The mainopen challenge in GLOT is the automatic conversion of existing webpages into the GLOT language. That is,taking the HTML and CSS of a webpage and rewriting it in terms of semantical components. The proposedproject will automate the identification of functional areas in wepages. The output of this will be used togenerate the same webpages with added multilingual and accessibility capabilities. A major outcome of thisresearch would be the automatic generation of accessible webpages from ordinary webpages. Furthermore, specific and accurate labeling of webpage sections would greatly improve search engine's precision and opennew areas for information retrieval research in general.
