Description

The Canadian Longitudinal Study of Aging (CLSA) Mobility Initiative (CLSA-MI) is a comprehensive program of research that proposes to describe and evaluate all aspects of mobility in adults aged 45 to 85 years. This Mobility Initiative will consider the physical, psychological and social factors that contribute to one's level of mobility over time. In this Mobility Initiative, the emerging team (ET) can explore the relationships between these factors and how they contribute to a person's mobility status, as well as how one's mobility status impacts important health outcomes and even diseases. The CLSA-MI is designed to capture changes or trajectories over time and uniquely capture all relevant aspects of changes that can lead to diminished mobility. Moreover, the ET will be composed of an extensive network of multidisciplinary researchers and stakeholders across disciplines and sectors. This CLSA-MI will also allow for the development of researchers new to the study of mobility. Overall, the CLSA-MI will provide comprehensive and cross-cutting understanding of one's mobility within middle aged and older Canadians; it will also provide important understanding of the transitions of one's mobility status over time.
