Project Details
Description
nandbox Inc. is delivering innovative technologies for messaging communication platform and Internet ofThings (IoT) applications with focus on privacy, security, and bigger grouping for business toindividual/machine communications. The company roadmap includes development of a complete set of IoT modules applied to home automationand wearable devices using nandbox communication messaging platform. These IoT devices need to interfacewith sensors via analog-to-digital converter (ADC) device that requires stringent specifications including veryhigh resolution and ultra-low power. For an ultra-lower power and cost, it is necessary to use thesystem-on-chip (SoC) concept where all the analog front-end circuits and digital backend signal processing areimplemented into a single silicon chip.Due to the complexity of implementing high resolution ADC in SoC for their IoT, nandbox needs assistance tostudy and develop this ultra-low power high resolution ADC for their future IoT products. The objective of this research project is to study and design a new architecture for high resolution ADC withultra-low power performance less than 100 micro-Watts for IoT applications. These objectives includeresearching the existent available architectures suitable for IoT applications and deliver a comprehensive studyon the best architectures suitable for nandbox specifications. Propose a new ADC architecture that overcomesthe challenges of implementing analog and mixed signal circuits in digital oriented SoC technology. Designand implement at the circuit and the layout levels of the ADC using CMOS technology. Fabricate and test theADC to validate the performance.
