Description

The objectives of this research program are to develop and test new techniques in Condition Based Maintenance with imperfect information and ultimately introduce new Risk-based inspection and maintenance policies for physical infrastructures. First, we will introduce optimal replacement/repair policies for equipment with imperfect information, when partial repair is an option. Application of Data-Fusion in maintenance optimization with imperfect information will be investigated as well. Finally, we will address some infrastructure risk and maintenance management problems. Maintenance planning and risk management of ageing physical infrastructures, such as roads; bridges; and power supply networks, is an appealing research field in developed and developing countries. Infrastructure owners and operators strive for continuous improvement of their systems and staff development. This ensures that they are able to meet and exceed users' need, that they are cost-efficient and effective in the use of resources, and are meeting the applicable environmental and safety/risk regulations. The proposed research program will apply a risk-based maintenance approach to provide risk-efficient methods for physical infrastructure maintenance planning.
