Project Details
Description
The team of investigators wishes to study the inflammatory events that accompany early and chronic persistent viral infections by respiratory syncytial, hepatitis C, and influenza viruses. They will identify the inflammatory cells and molecular mediators that often cause the tissue damage associated with these pathogens. The effects of viruses and their products on signal transduction pathways mediating these responses will be considered. Finally vaccines and drugs designed to reduce inflammation and clear virus infections will be considered.
