Description

Pain is a common problem for children with cancer and while there are research-based ways to help, many children do not benefit from this information. To tackle the problem of pain in children with cancer we developed and evaluated a social media campaign called #KidsCancerPain for parents of children with cancer. This work was done in partnership with the Cancer Knowledge Network (CKN), an online forum for those living with cancer and their caregivers. The campaign included 12 months of blog posts, videos, Twitter chats, and social media images that were based on published research on children's cancer pain. The information was shared over CKN in a way that was accessible and parent-friendly. We studied the reach of the campaign and its impact on parent knowledge and behaviour about pain.
