Project Details
Description
Based on the work of the PKU's fellowship and aligned with the organisation's commitment to develop Engaging Patients Who Use Substances Best Practice Guidelines, this team of health care providers, managers, researchers, research coordinators, and patients have some together to collaborate on a research project to respond to the impact of patient substance use on rehabilitation outcomes. The funds will be used to develop capacity for patient-oriented research by coordinating a workshop and developing organisational Patient Oriented Research Guidelines. These guidelines will inform the design of a research project that is intended to inform effective approaches to substance use among inpatients in a medical rehabilitation hospital, with goals of improved treatment outcomes, decreased length of admission, enhanced quality of therapeutic relationships, and timely access to addiction services. This project is supported by St. Joseph's Care Group, Dalhousie University, and Lakehead University.
