Description
Despite recent advances, certain types of breast cancer remain difficult to treat and thus patients have poor survival. New effective therapies are urgently needed. Many breast cancer cells differ from healthy cellsin their metabolism – their ability to produce energy, and use sugars and amino acids. Breast cancer cells also have metabolic versatility – the ability to adapt their metabolism under varioussituations – which contributesto their ability to resist chemotherapy and to grow. We propose to study a new pathway that is at the interface of metabolism and cell proliferation. The goal isto identify new drug targetsthat could be useful for patients whose cancer relies on this pathway for survival.
