Description

This proposal is to support graduate students working with the Geological Survey of Canada at Bedford Institute of Oceanography. It uses geological information to better understand the processes that have led to the present form of the deep-water continental margin off Eastern Canada. In particular, it will contribute to our understanding of how ice sheets that crossed the continental shelf in the past had a major impact on the continental slope and rise and how turbidity currents formed. This work has applications to the study of past climate change and to the safe development of offshore energy resources.
