Description

Funding for the Solutions Journalism Network (SJN) will build on previous RWJF-funded initiatives to support SJN's mission to foster high-impact, solutions-oriented reporting projects by news organizations, focusing on strategies to improve public health and health equity. The goal is to produce evidence-informed stories with the potential to reframe public discourse and create opportunities for communities to unite and engage in collaborative action and system-change efforts. To accomplish that, SJN will build a cohort of news organizations with an emphasis on those led by and serving people from excluded communities, which commit not only to producing sustained solutions coverage of health equity issues, but to championing the approach across networks of their professional peers. The result will be a leveraged spread of this reporting approach, expanding the capacity of more news organizations to pursue solutions-focused coverage of urgent health equity issues.
