Description

In this project we address the common problem of modern tag-based document management systems which isover-specification of tags. The system accuracy depends mainly on the "Human factor" and the quality of tagsassigned by users. While tagging, users are likely to pick only very specific tags that describe the content of aresource, forgetting about general concepts that represent the resource. Our proposed method to deal with thisproblem is an automatic tag generalization algorithm which would assign general tags to newly taggedresources. The objective of the algorithm is to provide a layer of tags consisting of general concepts whichwill be a good support for a system users. The proposed method will automatically tag resources with a moregeneral tags and will also assign similar tags to it. The method is unsupervised and domain independent. Theproposed approach is based on the recent methods in tag recommendation, co-occurrence graphs and oninformation extraction from Wikipedia.
