Project Details
Description
First Nations populations have higher rates of many age-related chronic diseases and these conditions often come at earlier ages, compared with other populations in Canada. In this project, we want to understand aging well, from a First Nations perspective, and we will develop a culturally relevant approaches to measuring frailty and wellness in older First Nations people in Ontario. We will look at the amount and type of health services that older people use, particularly those who have more than one chronic condition. We would be the first to study health services use among older First Nations people in Ontario in a culturally-driven, comprehensive, and inclusive way. This is of critical importance in guiding policy decisions and priority setting in response to the aging of First Nations populations in Ontario.
