Description
This proposal requests funds to buy advanced desktop computers (workstations) in order for my group to continue our research. This research aims to understand how animals (worms, clams, crabs, etc.) move in sediments and how methane (gas) bubbles form in marine and wetland sediments and rise. We are also concerned how the oceans will act as the ultimate sink for the CO2 now being put into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels. Our investigations have important connections to climate change, seafloor stability, and acoustic (sonar) imaging of the ocean bottom, and our current workstations are just too old (low speed and memory) to do this work anymore.
