Abstract

A classification of QRST integral maps of subjects with myocardial infarction or ventricular tachycardia and of normal subjects, using two orthogonal transformation methods, was attempted. The peak value of the Fourier spectrum and the percentage nondipolar content of the QRST integral maps, obtained by the application of the two-dimensional Fourier transform and the Karhunen-Loeve transform, respectively, to the QRST integral maps, were evaluated as classifiers for the three groups considered. The results indicate that these classifiers, when combined with the extrema count methods, facilitates delineation of concealed information in the patient group studied.
