Abstract
To the Editor: Walking through a pane of glass is a shattering experience. I wish to draw attention to the psychological effect and international dimensions of this problem. I was walking through a hotel lobby to join colleagues at a restaurant. They waved me in, literally through the glass wall, which I did not see. My immediate sensation was shock, with glass exploding around me. My reaction, to freeze on the spot, appeared to have averted serious injury.
