Description
The main aim of this research is to investigate if a popular mindfulness training course can derive neurological self regulation of emotional responses. This study will investigate the neural correlates for those with training in mindfulness as opposed to those without training in mindfulness. The study will compare those with moderate mindfulness training (8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and those with no mindfulness training in a control waitlisted condition, while performing affective and control labeling tasks. This will examine if a current module for training in mindfulness can illicit neurological indicators of self-regulatory behavior. It is hypothesized that those with mindfulness training will have greater neurological indication of emotion regulation than those without mindfulness training.
