Description
This grant application proposes to bring together the initial members of the Nova Scotia Strategy for Patient Oriented Research Network for Primary and Integrated Health Care Innovations (NS-PIHCI). If funded, NS-PIHCI will provide Nova Scotia the opportunity for research, policy, clinical leaders and stakeholders to collaborate in a new research team with the intent to design new ways of providing health services to people with complex health care needs. NS-PIHCI will develop its capacity to become a member of CIHRs National SPOR Network, allowing Nova Scotians to benefit from participation and learning in cross-provincial research and applied changes in health care across the country. The research funding will be used to set the priorities NS-PHICI should work on and determine who best should do this work. These innovative ways will see health services working better together, be better coordinated, be focussed in the community and include not only better health care delivery but be connected to ways to prevent the diseases leading to complex care needs. The funding will allow Nova Scotia's research, policy, and clinical leaders to engage health care organizations, citizens and other stakeholders in the development of the network and how it will work together. The initial members have extensive experience collaborating, and the NS-PIHCI will allow important decision makers in government, research and health care providers to formally coordinate their program, policy and research efforts to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions to improve healthcare for this group of Nova Scotians, while learning from and informing healthcare across Canada.
