Description
Emerging from the Alliance against Violence and Adversity (AVA) Health Research Training Platform (HRTP; CIHR $2.55 million, 2022-28), we seek to establish the AVA Women's Health Hub to mobilize/scale-up newly generated and existing knowledge and models of practice to advance more equitable, culturally safe, holistic health care, and access to care for girls, women, and gender-diverse people (GWGDP) affected by violence and adversity. Health and social services agencies that care for GWGDP at-risk/affected by adversity and family violence, including gender-based violence, require urgent support to mobilize/scale-up models of care. Lack of support contributes to unaddressed adverse childhood experiences,[1] family and gender-based violence rates increasing[2, 3] and health outcomes worsening.[4-8] AVA is NOT currently funded to mobilize knowledge. The AVA team NOW seeks funding for knowledge mobilization and exchange to promote improved health/social service delivery for GWGDP who are at-risk/affected by violence and adversity.[9] AVA Hub: (1) prioritizes Indigenous, racialized, disabled, gender-diverse people, seeks equity and diversity of perspectives with people with lived experiences (PWLE), and focuses on inclusion; (2) mobilizes knowledge with 7 regional and 1 national knowledge mobilization/exchange events, incentivizes community and policy leaders, PWLE, and equity-seeking people (ESP) to attend, and focuses on identifying, prioritizing, grading, and sharing evidence of promising/effective models of care for at-risk/affected GWGDP; (3) engages 184 scholars, community agency and policy partners, PWLE, and ESP; (4) builds capacity by leveraging the AVA HRTP online curriculum, triadic mentorship, and community internship programs; and (5) offers sustained leadership to support system change and impact on GWGDP at-risk/affected by violence and adversity by engaging Early Career Researchers, policy partners, and using AVA's Online learning system and repository.
