Resumen
Principles of rational antibacterial therapy of septic arthritis include the establishment of a pathologic and etiologic diagnosis, knowledge of the sensitivity of the causative organism and individualization of antibacterial doses. Intra articular antibacterials carry risks. The drugs should be given by this route only if their toxicities prevent their use in high doses systemically.
