Resumen
A mathematical model of the infant respiratory system has been developed and used to investigate the sensitivity of the system to changes in values of the system parameters. The model has been extended to account for right-to-left shunts of the circulation. It was shown that with appropriate parameter values the model can be used to study the effect of various amounts of shunting on the values of system variables such as PaO2.
