Description
Infectious diseases present a tremendous threat to human society because they kill more than 10 million people each year. To understand and contain infectious disease epidemics, we need to model the evolution and the spread of infectious pathogens through time. My research program aims to utilize stochastic modeling for this important task. In particular, I will investigate theory and methods for studying evolutionary and epidemiological processes using stochastic models and build software for analyzing infectious disease epidemics.
