Description

This grant is for general operating support for the National Immigration Law Center (NILC). Established in 1979, NILC is one of the leading advocacy organizations in the United States exclusively dedicated to defending and advancing the rights and opportunities of low-income immigrants and their loved ones. Its 2019 strategic framework has enabled NILC to both defend against anti-immigrant policies and narratives and advance a vision of a country in which everyone can live in health, safety, and freedom. NILC believes that our nation cannot secure immigrant justice without racial, economic, and gender justice and, therefore, seeks to reimagine and reform the systems, policies, and mindsets that underpin systemic racism and white supremacy. It leverages a unique mix of strategies to achieve those goals, including legal and policy advocacy, movement-building, and narrative and culture change. It works in close partnership with immigrant rights, civil rights, and health and social service groups to set agendas, design strategies, and take action collectively.
