Détails sur le projet

Description

Lung disease affects 1 in 5 Canadians. For some, the only hope to survive is a lung transplant. Transplantation, however, is an extremely complicated process. Recipients must learn new information, navigate the healthcare system and undergo several specialized tests committing to lifelong therapy with medications and lifestyle changes. Since lung transplantation is performed out of province, Saskatchewan residents spend significant time away from home to receive this life-saving procedure. Increasing support and education are necessary for patients and their caregivers to ensure optimal health outcomes.

A video series will be created for patients awaiting lung transplantation to provide support throughout the transplant process and prepare patients for the journey that lies ahead. The educational tool will be co-created by patients and caregivers, health care providers, researchers and partners at the Lung Association of Saskatchewan. It will address gaps in care which have been identified by Saskatchewan patients.
