Providing emergency assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic -- Urban Revival Project

The Foundation's New Jersey Health Initiative was designed to support innovative community-based projects in New Jersey that address one or more of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's interest areas in health and health care.This grant supports the Urban Revival Project in providing emergency assistance to lower-income and undocumented children and families in New Brunswick, N.J., during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Urban Revival Project will address food insecurity among New Brunswick families through a series of initiatives over the next five months. These programs will include: (1) Grocery Bags for Families in Crisis; (2) the 'Healthy Baby Happy Baby' initiative, which provides formula, baby food, and fresh fruits and vegetables for infants and toddlers; (3) meals for the Boys & Girls Mentoring Institute; (4) the 'Dining with Dignity' initiative, which provides home-style meals for the homeless; and (5) the 'Ice Cream Man' program, which provides free ice cream to children.
