THIS GRANT IS A CONTINUATION OF N00014-14-1-0226 Experimental Comparison of High Duty Cycle and Pulsed Active Sonars in a Littoral Environment

  • Hines, Paul (PI)

Projet: Research project

Détails sur le projet

Description

The performer will analyze data collected during TREX to test different techniques for detection, tracking, and classification for comparing high-duty cycle (HDC) and pulsed active sonar (PAS) signaling. The full data set will be run through quality assurance procedures and a subset of data selected for detailed scientific analysis. The data will be used to quantify the relative matched-filter gain of HDC and PAS for different runs and environmental conditions. The performer will examine trade-offs between detection threshold and false-alarm rates as applied to HDC and PAS signals. Performance metrics such as number of detections, false alarm rates, track purity, and track latency will be used to compare HDC and PAS. The impact of the environment on HDC performance in the littorals will be considered with emphasis on documenting current understanding and requirements for future experimental efforts.
