Description
As the proportion of people over 65 increases, our health care system needs to be able to deal with older patients with many complex, interacting medical and social problems. One way to do this is to consider the frailty level of an older patient. Frailty has been measured many ways, but no tools are suitable for the patient to fill out on themselves. We created a pictorial fit-frail scale in order to engage the patient and their family in their care, gain important insights from the patient and family, and reduce the time needed for a health care professional to get this information from the patient and family. We are now investigating whether people with dementia are able to use this frailty scale easily and reliably, and whether this scale may help in the routine care of older adults.
