Résumé

The authors of the above paper wish to notify the publisher of the following errata: 1. Page 119, Section 2.3. The sentence “The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in partnership with the Vancouver Aquarium also holds an annual Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup (GCSC). The aim of the event is to “promote understanding and education about shoreline litter issues by encouraging Canadians to rehabilitate shoreline areas through cleanups” [24],” should be replaced with: “The Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre conducts a considerable amount of research on plastic pollution, particularly microplastics, as well as extensive education work. It started the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-Up (GCSC) in 1994, which grew to become one of Canada's largest direct action conservation programs, with approximately 60,000 volunteers cleaning close to 3000 km of shoreline. In 2010, the World Wildlife Fund Canada (WWF Canada) became a full partner in the Shoreline Clean Up [24].”2. Page 120, Section 3.4. (Source Identification)’. The references in the section to: “WWF further categorizes”, “WWF assesses”, and “the WWF's GCSC” should read: “Vancouver Aquarium and WWF”.3. Page 122, Acknowledgements: Should be replaced with: “No funding was required for this study and no conflict of interest was identified. This was a collaborative effort by all co-authors and was improved with generous support from Kerri McPherson. The authors gratefully acknowledge shoreline litter data supplied by the GCSC, a joint conservation initiative of the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre and WWF-Canada (www.shorelinecleanup.ca).”
