Résumé

1. 1. Carbohydrase activity of the pyloric caeca of Oreaster reticulatus was measured by reducting sugar formation. 2. 2. Oligosaccharides (surcose, trehalose) and reserve polysaccharides (amylose, lamirin) were readily hydrolyzed, while structural (native cellulose, alginate) and mucilaginous polysaccharides (agar, carrageenan) were refractory. 3. 3. Hydrolysis of carboxymethyl cellulose was demonstrated by both viscometric and reducing sugar methods.
