Résumé

A double-blind crossover study comparing glaphenine 400 mg., a new anti-inflammatory analgesic drug, with codeine 30 mg. was performed on 98 outpatients suffering from post-operative dental pain. Of the 74 patients completing the trial, 84 per cent had successful analgesia with glaphenine as first drug compared with 36 per cent who had successful analgesia with codeine as first drug (χ2 = 11.5, p < 0.0005). Similar results were observed comparing drugs on second administration in 59 patients requiring additional analgesia. The onset of analgesia with glaphenine occurred in one hour with a peak effect between 2 and 4 hours after intake. Side effects in patients who took glaphenine were frequent (19 per cent of patients) but mild.
