Résumé

Dental and facial characteristics in a randomized selection of 123 individuals with Down's syndrome from four state institutions were carefully evaluated. The face and the oral structures were significantly altered by the chromosomal abnormality associated with Down's syndrome. The authors are grateful to Harry C. Solomon, Commissioner, Department of Mental Health of Massachusetts, for his interest and co-operation in permitting us to examine patients for this study. We wish to thank Dr. C. F. A. Moorrees, Director of Orthodontics at Forsyth Dental Center-Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and Dr. A. Ordonez, Fellow in Orthodontics, Forsyth Dental Center-Harvard School of Dental Medicine, for measuring mesiodistal crown diameters of the casts of Mongoloid individuals in this study.
