Résumé
Single oral doses of 20, 40, and 80 mg of ranitidine hydrochloride, a new H2-receptor antagonist, were given to 4 healthy volunteers to evaluate the effect on pentagastrin-stimulated gastric acid secretion. This effect was compared with that of a single oral dose of 300 mg of cimetidine. Measurements of gastric acid secretion at 15-min intervals for a maximum of 6 hr showed a dose-related decrease following ranitidine hydrochloride. Ranitidine hydrochloride, 40 mg and 80 mg, suppressed gastric acid secretion similarly to cimetidine 300 mg. No side effects were observed.
