Résumé
Last decade has witnessed a great progress in functional imaging of the brain. Current neuroscientific literature frequently quotes the term Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS). MRS provides noninvasive, in-vivo measurement of chemical compounds concentrations in the brain and thus allows us to focus on important biochemical processes, e.g., energy metabolism, membrane metabolism, concentrations of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters etc. These data offer a promise to elucidate the cause, diagnosis and therapy of a variety of neuropsychiatric diseases. MRS is currently available to scientists in the Czech Republic.
