The authors discuss in the submitted review the development of sexual dysfunctions as a result of pharmacological antidepressant intervention. First they define general aspects of sexual functions and present methods of their evaluation. They elucidate furthermore mechanisms of the development of disorders, provide overall information on different drug groups and preparations where a negative or positive effect in the sexual area was confirmed in the accomplished trials - they draw special attention to the high incidence of impaired orgasm in re-uptake serotonin blockers. In the conclusion they mention therapeutic approaches and possibilities how to influence impaired functions.
