Resumen

We studied the relationship between semi-quantitative estimates of liver damage and serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in our rat model for alcoholic liver disease. We found a significant correlation (r=0.79, p<0.01) between the histologic score for liver damage and serum ALT. Our results suggest that the serum activity of ALT is a useful guide to the estimation of liver pathology in experimental alcoholic liver disease.
