Resumen

It has been shown that synthetic oxytocin has the ability to promote A-V conduction under various experimental and clinical circumstances: (1) when A-V block is induced by anoxia or noradrenalin administration in the isolated heart; (2) when A-V block is induced by digitalis toxicity in the intact cat; (3) in certain forms of clinical heart block in man; and (4) in intact man with atrial fibrillation under digitalis therapy. This effect is transient and appears to be a direct action on the heart itself.
